Abstract

The Islamic minority in Sweden is trying to carve a place for itself in the existing legal and institutional framework in Sweden while simultaneously Swedish officials are trying to adapt society to new multicultural and multireligious realities. The article discusses the specific structures, problems, and possibilities for the Muslim minority in areas such as public funding, cemeteries, and mosques. The article closes with a discussion of religious minority rights from the perspective of individual verses group rights.
