Larissa Buchholz's book "The Global Rules of Art. The Emergence and Divisions of a Cultural World Economy" is a study published in 2022 by Princeton University Press in the Princeton Studies in Global and Comparative Sociology series, which is the result of extensive data collection over more than ten years. The 416-page book is divided into eight chapters, which in turn are divided into three parts. This gives a first impression of the core themes of the book: From the emergence of the global contemporary art field from the late 1980s-2010s (Part 1: Macro Perspective), to the dynamics of artistic recognition in the globalized field (Part 2: Meso Perspective), to two case studies that exemplify the life journeys of artists Gabriel Orozco and Yue Minjun in terms of their success stories (Part 3: Micro Perspective). Methodologically, Buchholz conducted a mixed-methods research design using both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
